Attractions In San Francisco

Located on the coast of Pacific Ocean, the city of San Francisco is better known as a tourist paradise. Apart from the Mediterranean climate of the city, beautiful beaches and the magnificent ferry rides, there are numerous attractions in the city sufficient enough to make this city a favorite destination for millions of tourists from around the globe.

Best known among these is the Golden Gate Bridge, a famous landmark of San Francisco which opened in 1937. Stretching from San Francisco to Marin County, this bridge is one of the longest suspension bridges spanning 1.7 miles. One can either stroll across the bridge by foot, by bicycle, drive over it by car or bus, or cruise by boat under it. San Francisco is famous for its hills. There are more than 50 hills located within the city. Most of the neighborhoods are named after the hill in which they are situated and places end up having quaint and unique names like Nob Hill, Pacific Heights, Russian Hill, Potrero Hill and Telegraph Hill. The tallest of these hills is Mt. Davidson.

Chinatown in San Francisco is considered as the largest Chinese settlements outside of Asia. Chinatown is known for its colorful and fascinating shopping and dining experience. This is a great place to walk around. Another beautiful destination in San Francisco is the Golden Gate Park that stretches from the center of the city to the Pacific Ocean. Some of the attractions in the park include the Japanese Tea Garden, the Conservatory of Flowers and the Strybing Arboretum.

Other major attractions in San Francisco that are worth a visit include the Buena Vista Park, Fisherman’s Wharf, Ocean Beach, Baker Beach, Financial District on the Market Street, Lombard Street, North Beach, Coit Tower, Palace of Fine Arts, Grace Cathedral, Bay Bridge, Angel Island, Alcatraz, Sausalito, the Ferry Island, Union Square, Sutro Tower and the De Young Museum. Apart from these, there are countless entertainment centers, shopping malls, restaurants theaters, night bars and clubs that can make an evening memorable.
